The game of poker has a seedy origin. The term “poke” may have been first used by card hustlers to refer to the game of cheating on unsuspecting opponents. Players used a deck of twenty cards, and only Aces and faces were revealed. It is thought that the “r” was added to confuse players who knew the slang. Although the game is a simple one, it does include elements of cheating. In addition to the shady history of the game, it is played for money.<\/p>\n

The rules of poker vary depending on the game. A player may start the hand with two pairs of cards of the same suit. Other poker terms include suited, mute, and sleight-of-hand techniques.
